Walk Lead: Heba Jarrar

Description: The Halifax Regional Municipality’s Urban Forestry team is interested in leading a walk on trees in the city. The walk will include information about the Urban Forest Management Plan and how our Urban Forestry department cares for the trees in the city’s streets and parks. The walk will also include some tree ID, discussion about forest pests like HWA, EAB and DED, new infrastructure that helps trees grow in the narrow boulevards of the city, and the benefits of planting trees.

Starting location: Museum of Natural History, on the path between the parking lot and the horse riding school.

End location: Museum of Natural History

Duration: 1.5-2 hours

More info: We’ll do our best to stick to asphalt paths and sidewalks. We may use the gravel road through the Camp Hill Cemetery, but we’ll stay on fairly flat surfaces.
