The Flora & Food Plants of Fort Needham

Description: Join us for a stroll through Fort Needham Memorial Park with Jayme Melrose, Community Food Coordinator with the Ecology Action Centre, and Peter Lapierre, a senior HRM gardener, as our guides. We'll walk up Novalea Drive and into the park, learning about its history and the plants that have called this land home — past and present. With a food lens throughout, we'll explore what has been grown here, what grows here now, and what could grow here in the future.

Starting location: Fort Needham Park - Novalea entrance, close to Young Street where the crosswalk meets the park path.

End location: Fort Needham Park - Union Street parking lot, where the North End Community Garden is.

Duration: 1 hour

Accessibility notes: All on the sidewalk, with one hill to go up.
